Final essay!!!!!!
Well i will describe south central L.A a extraordinary place to live in and a safe place to live in!!!!!Today south central is a good place to live in.Yess!!!!Their mite be violence but you got to admit that these types of things happen anywhere not only here in south central…..The benefit of living in south central today is thta its fun.In other places its quiet and boring.I would consider south central a loud and fun place to kick it in or live here!!!!!!!!!!!!They are green dot schools like lock that care about your education and about you!!!
The first event that made south central important today is the watts riots. The Watts riots shows what it is today because we learn about what happen before we even got to live here in south central!!!!!!The watts riots is important to me because it shows what happened in the past.It also helps you understand why they are different projects in watts. It gives you information like why they were buiIt what year they were built why they gave the name they got rite now.Well finally knowing the history of watts really suprised me and makes me feel proud of our people. The Watts Riots began on the evening of August 11, 1965. Near Watts, a Black resident flagged down a white officer and told him that a man had drove by recklessly. The white officer pulled over the car that he had been told about on 116th and Avalon, an area Southwest of Watts. The driver was Marquette Frye. He was driving with his brother, Ronald. According to the police, Marquette failed a sobriety test and the white officer told him he would be arrested for drunk driving and that his car would be towed. It was an extremely hot evening and many of the Black residents of the area were outside and watched as this occurred.
The second event that led south central to be what it is today was the La riots. In the LA riots riots they were 53 people dead and the rest were injured. This made me realize that crime doesn’t only occur here in south central it occurs wherever you go…IT made me realize lot of things that happen here for a reason. The la roits helped me under stand the history of south central and how it used to be back in the days..Also how it is different from now..Here a little paragraph of what happened to Rodney King was severely beaten by the police on March 3, 1991. The police attempted to pull him over in Lake View Terrace in the San Fernando Valley after he was caught speeding at 110 mph. He led the police on a short pursuit because he knew being pulled over would violate his parole for a prior robbery. The police claimed that he was resisting arrest once he was pulled over. They claimed that they believed he was on drugs, although he was not. The police proceeded to beat Rodney King severely for about 15 minutes, resulting in skull fractures, broken bones and teeth, and permanent brain damage. The police did not know that they were being filmed for most of the beating. The people that filmed it brought it to the media, and the film was repeatedly shown on TV. Police brutality and racial profiling had been a problem for some time in LA, but this was the first time it was caught on tape. The four main officers involved were brought to trail on charges of using excessive force. Their trail was moved to Semi Valley. The four white officers represented for many people of color everything that was wrong with the police.
my third event is The crack epedemi. The story begins in the early 1900s in Nicaragua, a country in Central America. In this country, the US took complete military control because they wanted to control the farm land. The Nicaraguans revolted against this, and were led by Augusto Cesar Sandino. He led the country briefly, but was overthrown in a coup d’etat by Anastasio Somoza. Somoza ruled the country through the military and the people did not have very many rights. He gained control in the 1930s. Nearly 40 years later, in 1979, the people revolted against Somoza. The main group that led the revolt were called the Sandinistas. They were named after Sandino. They were also communist, and this worried the US because they did not want to lose money that they put in to building up Nicaragua. So the US started to give money to some Nicaraguans to fights the communist Sandinistas, starting a civil war in Nicaragua. This led to many Nicaraguans coming to the US. The only problem was that the US did not have enough money to put aside for just Nicaragua. The US, led by Ronald Reagan, found a solution.
The three important events i chose were the la riots.watts riots and crack epedemic. They were the ones that made me under stand what south central is today!!!!!!!!75 people from the neighborhood gathered around to watch what was happening. Ronald came back with his mother. The police still had not brought Marquette under control i n the la riots 53 people died and many were injured.Crack epedemic lasted for a long time and it led to lot of problems thtas why people are doing crack now in days for what the goverment did back i the days

And kind to each other. Also in Hollywood it’s awesome and it’s pretty fun to go out and enjoy your day. Out here in Hollywood there is the perfect view for you to see. It’s really fun in Hollywood they are different places you could shop in and buy the things you need or have fun in amusement parks. What I enjoy most about Hollywood is the stores there is and the views there are. I love walking up to the mountains and hiking. Hollywood is a cool place for you to spend a day when you are bored or don’t have nothing to do.
